Spring may have only just sprung, but now that the weather has started heating up we’ve got only one thing on our minds: #BRINGONSUMMER. Warm nights, good friends, cold beers… ahhh that’s the stuff. We’ve put together some tips to help make home the hottest (but not literally 😉) place to be this summer.
Chill out, man!
You wanna take advantage of the good weather, but that doesn’t mean you have to sweat your butt off, right?
Those living their best life on the coast might have the benefit of the cool sea breeze (dang those South-Westerners with their Freo Doctor!) but what if you’re a little more inland? If you have a covered outdoor space, consider installing a ceiling fan for some sweet, sweet circulation. No chance of a ceiling fan? Pedestals will get the job done 👌
Don’t forget; while you might be keen to get some warmth in your bones, your food and drinks will take a hard pass on that, tyvm. If you’ve got perishable cold dishes (avocado dip, anyone?) have we got the tip for you: fill a bowl with ice and sprinkle some kosher salt on it, place your dish on top and BOOM, easy as refrigeration. Make sure there is plenty of space in your fridge too (or have some eskies on hand), warm beer is not a mood.
Don’t let furniture take a back seat!
You don’t want to invite everyone around just for them to have to stand for hours (if your guests have been skipping leg day it’s gonna be a bad time). You’ll need somewhere for everyone to sit and while sitting on the grass could be a nice vibe for an intimate picnic, it’s probably better if you have some chairs… just sayin’.
Fancy a schmancy dinner party, or maybe a relaxed BBQ lunch? Whatever you’ve got planned, make sure your furniture is lit! For somethin’ a little more formal, a traditional outdoor table and chairs setting is the way to go. Your vibe more relaxed? Maybe consider outdoor lounge chairs, a sofa, or even bean bags. Just make sure you have enough seats to go around; no point in getting together if you can’t be together.
Raise your hand if you feel like getting eaten alive by mosquitoes or swarmed with flies. 🧐 Oh, no one, huh?
There’s nothing worse than spending your days and nights swatting away pesky insects, and it can sure take an event from 100 to 0 real quick.
Pair insect-repellent with aesthetic by incorporating citronella candles, lanterns, torches, or incense around your outdoor area. The bugs will leave your guests alone and it’ll be a total mood 🔥
Bring the Sun Inside
Okay so you’re the kind of person who thinks about heat and insects and thinks, outside? Yeah nah, hard pass. That doesn’t mean you can’t bring a little bit of light to your indoor summer entertaining.
Bring the outside in, instead! Enjoy the summer sunshine in the comfort of your fabulous air-conditioned home by installing some super sweet skylights. (As seen on the block)
